I had a bad dream last night. It sorta made me understand my mom's position on why she wishes that I won't venture thoughts of leaving overseas.

I dreamt that my sister signed up to study for university overseas, Australia most likely. She had to go for a grand total of four years, out of which 1 is a preparation year and 3 the core undergraduate duration. I was stunned and tried ways and means to keep her.

I woke up then with a heavy heart, not exactly the best way to start a day. Now I understand.

I've wasted last night bumming around and not seriously studying for the Architecture of Internet test later today. I should do a good job, since time is not on my side.

Media & Globalization - Online Gaming

Some possible topics that we might broach:
  • the types of games that the people in the LAN centers play
  • -> is there a particular kind of game that they play? it might be due to cultural proximity (possible rise of Korean online games)
  • discussion on the role of games in childhood and how it has evolved
  • if we can come up with a concrete connection with korea gaming and Singaporeans/Asia, we can talk about Korea's connection with the rest of Asia (similar to Karaoke)
  • form of popular vs mass culture?
  • applying Travel Theory?
  • Localization vs hegemony
